Why are these apps here? Twitter makes money two ways: data sales and advertising. The vast majority is advertising (90%, says the
S-1). If "users" aren't clicking on Twitter's adverts (eg, they're actually on a completely different site, just clicking a button there), Twitter can't make money from them. Oh, additionally, many of these apps will keep tweeting even if the user is dead.
